How it Happened
Rhode Island scored its first goal of the season but settled for a 1-1 draw on the road at Le Moyne Sunday.
The Rams (0-3-3) struck within the opening two minutes after drawing a corner kick. Erin Hopewell had a blast that found Tess O'Connell who was able to head a piece of the cross to the back of the net. Rhody limited the Dolphins to just one shot in the first 45 minutes of play.
Le Moyne (1-3-1) answered in the 75th minute, when Danielle Casey had an initial shot that was blocked and sent in goal by Sierra Edwards. The shot was the first and only shot on the frame by the Dolphins during the match.
Rhode Island had a few more opportunities in the final minutes of play, including a shot by Aida Name in the closing seconds that was stopped by Allison Moreau, her seventh of the day. The late surge wasn't enough for the Rams and the visitors were sent home with the tie.
