RHODE ISLAND VS. LA SALLE - SERIES NOTES

  • Wednesday's game will be the 46th all time between Rhode Island and La Salle.
  • Rhode Island leads the series, 34-11.
  • The Rams have won nine of the previous 11 match-ups.
  • Last season, the teams played three times. La Salle won 77-75 in overtime at Gola Arena on Jan. 7, 2023, and Rhode Island won 72-70 in the Ryan Center three weeks later on Jan. 28. The Explorers took the rubber game with a 73-56 win at the Atlantic 10 Championship at Barclays Center.
  • Rhode Island is 14-4 when hosting La Salle and has won each of the last four times the Explorers have come to Kingston.
  • The last time La Salle won in the Ryan Center was Jan. 12, 2017, an 87-75 win.
  • La Salle is one of the best teams in the country at protecting the basketball. The Explorers average 9.7 turnovers per game, which ranks 19th in the country.
  • La Salle snapped a four-game losing streak by winning 80-70 at George Washington on Jan. 27.
  • Rhode Island enters the game looking to snap a four-game skid of its own.

RAMS FINDING MARK FROM THE PERIMETER

  • One of the biggest areas of improvement in recent weeks for Rhode Island has been its perimeter shooting.
  • The Rams have made an average of 8.7 3-pointers per game over the last six games.
  • That includes 14 3-pointers in a win over Massachusetts (Jan. 13) and 13 more in a loss at George Mason (Jan. 17) in the team's most recent games.
  • The 14 makes against UMass tied the fourth-most in a single game in program history.
  • In the Atlantic 10 opener against Saint Joseph's, Rhode Island was 6-for-25 from the arc, lowering the team's season 3-point percentage to .335.
  • In the six games since, URI has shot .426 as a team from the arc (52-for-122).
  • That has brought the team's season 3-point percentage to .365, which ranks fifth in the conference and 60th in the country.
  • Junior forward David Green is shooting .556 from 3-point range (15-for-27) while freshman guard Cam Estevez is making .439 (29-for-66) from deep.
  • The .365 3-point shooting percentage would tie for the eighth best in URI history if the season ended today.
  • Estevez currently ranks ninth for a single season among URI players with at least 50 attempts in a year.
