RHODE ISLAND VS. UALBANY - SERIES NOTES

  • The Rams and the Great Danes will play one another for the 12th time in the history between the two teams on Saturday afternon.
  • Since 2013, Rhode Island has earned a 6-5 advantage over UAlbany. That record includes a split 2-2 mark at Meade Stadium.
  • A year ago, the Great Danes snapped a three-game losing streak in the series against URI with a 35-10 victory at their home stadium.
  • Linebacker A.J. Pena recorded his first career interception in that game, which he returned for 28 yards.
  • For the Great Danes, that win kicked off a seven-game victorious streak that carried them all the way to the NCAA FCS Semifinals. Their season ended with a 59-0 loss to No. 1 South Dakota State (Dec. 15). The Jackrabbits went on to win the national title.
  • Pena helped lead the Rams to a 35-21 victory the last time his team hosted UAlbany in 2022.
  • He was one of five players that recorded a sack, while teammate Westley Neal, Jr. blocked a 24-yard field goal attempt.

SENIOR DAY

WHEN DEFENSE LEADS TO OFFENSE

  • Rhode Island is seventh in the country and tied for first in CAA Football with three defensive touchdowns.
  • Both Hampton and Richmond have also had as many defensive TDs.
  • Defensive back Freddie Camp began the trend when he recovered a fumble in the end zone during the win at No. 19/24 New Hampshire (Oct. 19).
  • A muffed punt by the Wildcats at their own 10-yard line, followed by a key block from defensive back Braden Price, allowed the redshirt freshman to score.
  • Two weeks later, defensive back Fredrick Mallay recovered a fumble which he returned seven yards into the end zone.
  • His play punctuated the Rams' 37-28 defeat of Monmouth (Nov. 2).
  • In the following game, linebacker Devin Hightower scooped up a Delaware fumble that he returned 21 yards for a touchdown (Nov. 9).
  • His first career touchdown put URI up 14-7 in the first quarter.
