KINGSTON, R.I. - A select few members of the Rhode Island women's track & field program attended the Brown Invitational on Saturday afternoon, utilizing the meet as an opportunity to reach qualifying marks for upcoming championship meets.
Megan Wood made the most of her chance, hitting IC4A benchmarks in both the shot put and the weight throw. Wood won the shot put with a 45' 5" toss and took second in the weight throw with a 55' 7" effort.
Erynn Field also had an IC4A qualifying performance in the weight throw at 52' 9.5" (fifth).Â
Highlights
- Katelyn Welsh won the pole vault, clearing 11' 7.75". Caroline Larkin placed second with the same finishing height, while Lila Rich was third (10' 2").Â
- Alyssa Yankee placed third in the shot put with a personal best throw of 41' 8".Â
- She was eighth in the weight throw (44' 6.75"), followed by teammate Madison Boucher (10th, 43' 8").Â
- Lindsay Turgeon crossed the line third in the 1000M, less than a second off the winning pace (3:03.43).
- Both Josie Allred and Alexis Zarr cleared 4' 11" in the high jump, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

The Rams will compete at the 2024 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship on Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24. The competition will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.Â
