NEWPORT, R.I. – Boston University swept singles play while blanking Rhode Island 7-0 Saturday evening.
Rhody (1-1) got a doubles victory from the team of
Nadia Rajan and
Nikki Fernando. Playing at No. 2 doubles, Rajan and Fernando teamed up for a 6-2 victory. Unfortunately, that was URI's lone win on the day.
"Congratulations to BU. They have a good team and played a bit better than us in important moments of the match," Rhode Island head coach Jonas Brobeck said. "I am happy to see big improvement in doubles today. Overall, there are a lot of positives we can build on from this match. We have another battle tomorrow with NJIT."
Rhode Island is back at the International Tennis Hall of Fame Sunday afternoon. The match with NJIT begins at 12:30 p.m.
