Rams Sit Third After First Day of NEICAAA Championship

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's track & field team had a successful first day competing at the NEICAAA Indoor Championship on Friday at The TRACK at New Balance. 

Through the opening events, the Rams were third in the team standings with 26 points. UMass (48.50) and Sacred Heart (34.50) had the top two spots locked up. 

Rhody's entries were highlighted by a first- and second-place finish in the weight throw. Erynn Field won the event with a 56' 1 1/4" toss and was followed by teammate Megan Wood (55' 9 1/4").

The Rams will close out the event on Saturday at The Track at New Balance. Simultaneously, members of the team will be competing at the ECAC Championship, which begins on Saturday and ends Sunday, March 3.
