- The Rhode Island softball team made its way to Tennessee Thursday morning to get ready for seven games over a five-day span.
- Because of weather issues expected in the area, the Rams will play one game each Friday and Saturday, two games on Sunday and a single game on Monday, spending an extra day in Clarksville.
- Rhody will travel to Cookeville, Tenn. after Monday's game against Bradley and then play a doubleheader at Tennessee Tech on Tuesday.

RHODE ISLAND VS. THE CATHI MAYNARD INVITATIONAL FIELD - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island is visiting Clarksville, Tenn. for the first time in program history.
- The last time Rhode Island played in the state of Tennessee was in 2018.
- That year, the Rams dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Tennessee Tech (3/13), lost a single game at Middle Tennessee (3/14) and then played at the Belmont/Tennessee State invitational from Match 16-18, where Rhody went 2-3 overall.
- URI is 0-2 all time against Akron, with the last meeting coming in a 5-0 loss at the 2015 Stetson Westin Mary Lake Lead-Off Classic.
- The only other previous meeting came in 1987, a 3-0 win for the Zips.
- Rhode Island has played host Austin Peay once before, at the 2003 Wilson Tournament in Tampa, Fla.
- Austin Peay won the contest, 2-1.
- Rhode Island and Bradley have never played each other.
- Following the Cathi Maynard Invitational, the Rams will play a doubleheader at Tennessee Tech on Tuesday, March 12.
WHO IS CATHI MAYNARD?
- This weekend's invitational is named for longtime Austin Peay fan and supporter Cathi Maynard, who died in June of 2023 after a 35-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis
- Maynard served in the Army as an MP and was affiliated with Special Forces during her Army career
- She and her husband Joe co-operated a family business, ECHO Power Engineering
- In 2022, the Maynards pledged $15 million to name the Joe and Cathi Maynard Athletics Complex on the Austin Peay campus, which offered significant help in Austin Peay's move to the Atlantic Sun Conference
