ORLANDO, Fla. – Rhode Island's season came to an end at the hands of Massachusetts in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship. The third-seeded Minutewomen defeated the No. 6 Rams 4-0 Thursday night.
After winning the doubles point, UMass (13-7) won in straight sets at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles to secure the team win.
Rhode Island (14-7) was leading in a pair of singles matches when play was stopped.
Nikki Fernando was up 4-6, 6-4, 2-1 at No. 3 singles, and
Klara Nelander was ahead 7-6, 3-2 when the match ended.
Massachusetts advanced to the A-10 semifinals, where it will face No. 2 Saint Louis on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
