Rams Begin Stretch of Seven Games in Six Days Tuesday

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island has a busy week ahead, playing seven road games while making three road trips over a span of six days.

The week starts with a pair of non-conference doubleheaders, as the Rams will play at in-state rival Brown on Tuesday afternoon, then head to North Easton, Mass. on Wednesday for a pair of games against Stonehill.

The Rams cap the with when they return to conference play with a three-game series at Saint Louis, which begins with a doubleheader on Saturday.

RHODE ISLAND VS. BROWN – SERIES NOTES
  • Rhode Island and Brown have played 63 times, with the Rams holding a 38-25 lead all time.
  • Last season URI swept a doubleheader against the Bears, winning 3-2 and 3-0.
  • Rhody has won five of the last six meetings overall.
  • Brown is 8-17 overall, but it is coming off a 12-9 victory over Dartmouth in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday.
  • Jasmine Hsiao has been a dynamic offensive player for the Bears, batting .355 with eight doubles, one triple, one home run and 14 runs scored through 25 games.
  • Both teams have struggled to generate scoring at times. Brown has been held to one or zero runs eight times in 25 games, while Rhode Island has done so 13 times in 32 games.
RHODE ISLAND VS. STONEHILL – SERIES NOTES
  • This is the second year in a row the teams are meeting.
  • Rhody and Stonehill met for the first time in 2023, splitting a doubleheader at the URI Softball Complex.
  • In the first game of the doubleheader, Skyler Rapuano had an RBI double and then scored on a Jessica Hennelly single to give Rhody a walk-off win in the eighth inning.
  • In the second game, Stonehill pitcher Kelly Mayette pitched a two-hit shutout for the Skyhawks.

  • In just its second season as a Division I program, Stonehill is 7-22 overall and is coming off a 6-4 win over Wagner on Sunday.
HIBBARD GIVING RAMS CONSISTENCY IN THE CIRCLE
  • Sophomore Ashley Hibbard appeared in all three games over the weekend against Loyola Chicago, pitching 10.0 innings while allowing just two earned runs.
  • Over her last 11 appearances, Hibbard has lowered her earned run average from 8.14 to 4.72.
  • In that span, she has thrown 29.2 innings of work and allowed 12 earned runs.
  • She has slightly better than a 2-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, fanning 27 batters while issuing 13 free passes.
POWER CONTINUES TO LEAD RHODY OFFENSE
  • Junior Emily Power has taken a major step forward this season, leading Rhode Island is batting average (.321), home runs (4), runs batted in (16), defensive assists (66), sacrifice flies (3) and multiple-hit games (8).
  • She also is second on the team with 25 hits, trailing only Elena Gonzalez (26).
  • With two hits Sunday against Loyola Chicago, Power has eight hits over her last five games, going 8-for-15 (.533) over the span.
  • Power moved into eighth place in Rhode Island history over the weekend, reaching 234 career assists.
  • She needs just 35 more assists to join teammate Cassie Swenson among the top five. Swenson is URI's all-time leader with 308.
