Brobeck Adds Three to 2024-25 Roster

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island women's tennis coach Jonas Brobeck has signed three international players to national letters of intent for the 2024-25 season. Katharina Spieth of Germany, Grace Darcy of Australia and Anastasia Pettersson from Sweden will all join the Rams next Fall.

"We are very excited having Katharina, Grace, and Anastasia joining us this Fall," Brobeck said. "They are all great student-athletes and tennis players who will help this program reach new heights. However, more importantly, they are fantastic people that share all the values we live by and will fit perfectly into this close-knit team. We can't wait to have them on campus at the end of August."

Spieth – who hails from Bad Honnef, Germany, is ranked among the top 150 players in the German Women's National Rankings. Among players in her age group (born in 2005), Spieth is ranked among the top 15 players in Germany. Spieth has a Universal Tennis Rating of 8.91 and a World Tennis Number of 20.9.

Darcy will come to Kingston from Melbourne, Australia. She had a current URT of 8.54 and a WTN of 24.3.

Pettersson is a native of Ydre, Sweden. She is currently ranked a career-high 825th in the International Tennis Federation rankings. Pettersson has a UTR of 8.42 and a WTN of 21.1.

The three women join a Rhode Island program that took a significant step forward in its first season with Brobeck at the helm. The Rams were 14-7 in 2023-24 and won its opening round match at the Atlantic 10 Championship before falling to eventual champion Massachusetts in the quarterfinals. The 14 victories doubled URI's total in 2022-23, when the program went 7-17 overall.
