KINGSTON, R.I. — Rhode Island women's lacrosse head coach
Jenna Slowey continues to load the roster before the Rams begin their inaugural season next spring. Transfers Caitlin Dellecave (Stony Brook), Casey Phelps (Hofstra) and Katie Koroly (Wingate) have all signed with Rhody to continue their athletic and academic careers.
"We are thrilled to add Caitlin, Casey, and Katie to our inaugural team. Each of them bring experience, leadership, and excitement to different positions on the field." Slowey said
"Caitlin is skilled, intelligent attacker coming from one of the best teams in the country. It is such an asset to bring her level of competition and winning culture to Rhode Island. Casey is a quick, aggressive goalkeeper. We are excited to see what she is capable of between the pipes. And Katie is coming to us with a ton of great field experience. She is an aggressive and fast defender, who will transition to the Division I level with ease."
Dellecave arrives in Kingston after spending the last four seasons at Stony Brook. She appeared in 14 games at attack last season for the ninth-ranked scoring offense in the country. After going back-to-back and winning the 2024 CAA Championship to earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, Dellecave tallied an assist in the opening-round win over Niagara to send the Seawolves to the second round for the 11th straight year. Before Stony Brook made the transition to the CAA, Dellecave was also a member of the 2021 America East Championship team that made it to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Off the field, she was a member of the Dean's List all four years.
Dellecave attended Patchogue-Medford High School as a four-year letter winner and three-year captain while also landing on the All-County team three times during her career. As a junior, she was named an Under Armour Undergraduate All-American after tallying 31 goals and 16 assists. Dellecave was also a member of the basketball and volleyball teams at Patchogue-Medford, serving as captain for both squads. In the classroom, she was a member of the Spanish, History, and Business Honor Society.
Phelps, a goalie, joins the Rams from Hofstra where she spent four years. This past season, she played seven games in goal, including games against USC and NCAA Tournament contender Drexel. A Dean's List student, she also earned a spot on the Athletic Director Scholars Academic Honor Roll and CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
Phelps attended Our Lady of Good Counsel High School as a member of the varsity lacrosse team for three years, winning the Conference Championship her senior year while boasting a .567 save percentage. She was also a member of the field hockey and wrestling teams.
Koroly comes to Rhody after two years at Wingate as a defender. She had 60 draw controls, 84 ground balls and 73 caused turnovers during her time with the Bulldogs. As a freshman, she earned Second Team All-Region honors from the IWLCA and was the only defender on the team to start all 19 games. Her efforts helped the Bulldogs lead Division II in goals-against average and caused turnovers. Koroly was named First Team All-SAC in back-to-back seasons, and after Wingate won the 2023 SAC Championship, she earned All-Tournament Team honors.
Koroly attended Archbishop John Carroll High School, and earned four varsity letters as a member of the lacrosse team. A captain her senior year, she led her team to a pair of State Championship titles in 2021 and 2022, and League Champions in 2018, 2019, and 2022. She was also on the basketball, bowling, and tennis teams.
The trio joins two other grad transfers Slowey has signed this spring, as High Point's Sami MacDonald and Coastal Carolina's Mia Sheldon were added last month. The team begins its inaugural season next spring 2025.
