KINGSTON, R.I. – Jamie Woelmer has joined the Rhode Island Athletics Strength and Conditioning staff. In her position, Woelmer will work directly with women's basketball and women's lacrosse.
Woelmer comes to Rhode Island after spending five years working at the College of the Holy Cross. After starting as an intern with the Crusaders in August of 2019, she was hired as a part-time assistant strength and conditioning coach in November of 2019. Woelmer was promoted to full-time status the following August.
"Jamie is a great fit to work with the programs of women's basketball head coach
Tammi Reiss and women's lacrosse head coach
Jenna Slowey," said Scott Leech, URI's head strength and conditioning coach. "Jamie brings expertise and knowledge as a strength coach, and she will help support the championship-caliber programs that are being built here."
From the Fall of 2020 through the end of the 2023-24 athletic year, Woelmer developed strength, speed, agility and conditioning programs for the baseball, softball, field hockey and volleyball teams. In her first year at the school, she worked with the volleyball, women's rowing and women's tennis squads.
Woelmer worked as a strength and conditioning intern with American International College in the winter and spring of 2019. An AIC alumnae, she earned her bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from the school in May of 2018 and then completed her master's degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning in May of 2020.
As an undergraduate, Woelmer played softball at American International from 2014-18. She was a Northeast 10 Conference Woman of the Year finalist in 2018 and a three-time Northeast 10 All-Conference selection during her career. Woelmer also served as the AIC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President in 2017-18.
