O'Marra Joins Athletics Media Relations Staff

KINGSTON, R.I. - Jack O'Marra has been named as a coordinator of sports communication in the University of Rhode Island Department of Athletics, it was announced Monday.

O'Marra, a 2019 URI graduate, has spent his career in a variety of roles in the collegiate and professional sports arenas. He has served as media relations director for the Bay State Bobcats NA3HL USA Junior Hockey organization, a broadcaster for the Bobcats, the Danbury Hat Tricks of the Federal Prospects Hockey League and for several local colleges and universities across all sports.

Additionally, O'Marra has worked as a senior account executive with the Ryan Center and Oak View Group on behalf of Rhode Island athletics. He has been connected with URI Athletics for more than a decade, covering the department as a media member for the Good 5-Cent Cigar and WRIU.

"Jack's passion for Rhode Island athletics separated him in the search process," said Shane Donaldson, associate athletic director for Communication and New Media. "His professionalism and work ethic are known to anyone who has worked with him in his various roles through the years, and we are excited to welcome him into this role.

In his position, O'Marra will oversee media relations for men's soccer, women's swimming and diving and men's track and field/cross country. Additionally, he will assist with women's lacrosse and baseball.

O'Marra joins Donaldson (men's basketball, men's golf, softball, women's tennis, women's volleyball), Michaela Benford (women's basketball, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, social media) and Stone Freeman (baseball, football, women's rowing, women's track and field/cross country) in the media relations office.
