KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's track & field team won five different events at the Riverhawk Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams had success in both track and field events, as
Macy Daigle won the high jump,
Lily Saul took home the Mile,
Lily MacDonald won the triple jump and
Sydney Federico captured the 500 before
Nyah Santana, Saul,
Abigail Colella and Federico capped off the meet with a relay win in the 4x400.Â
Rhody had top finishes in nearly all of the events offered at the non-scoring meet.Â
Highlights
- Macy Daigle won the high jump with a mark of 5' Â 5 1/4". She edged Boston Unviersity's Asia Hamilton by a quarter of an inch in a jump off for the title.
- Lily Saul won the Mile with a personal-best time of 4:48.34. The time was also a junior class record and made her the second-fastest URI individual all-time.Â
- Lily MacDonald captured the triple jump with a mark of 38' 3 1/2", besting Bryant University's Dasani Stewart by nearly a full inch.Â
- Sydney Federico crossed the finish line of the 500 first in 1:14.36, setting a new personal record. She moved up to sixth all-time in Rhode Island history.Â
- The quartet of Nyah Santana, Lily Saul, Abigail Colella and Sydney Federico won the 4x400 Relay in 3:48.87. Rhody bested second-place Holy Cross by nearly five full seconds.Â
- Megan Wood finished third in the shotput with a mark of 45' 8 1/2". Alyssa Yankee (12th) was just outside the top 10 with a 42' 4 1/4" throw.Â
- Joanna Ball ran the 400 in 1:03.22, good for fifth place overall in the Open event.Â
- In her Rhody debut, Odette van Wyk placed fifth in the 200 with a time of 24.87.
- Megan Wood placed sixth in the weight throw with a 54' 9 1/4" toss.Â
- Charlotte Moscovici cleared 11' 7 3.4" inches in the pole vault for sixth overall and was joined in the top 10 by Olivia Priest (10th, 11' 1 3/4").
- Madeline Till finished seventh in the 1000 (2:55.51).Â
- Lindsay Turgeon was ninth in the 800 with a time of 2:14.84.Â
