KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's track & field team saw two school records fall at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday afternoon.
Odette van Wyk broke a 20-year-old record in the 200m, while
Lily Saul knocked off a five-year-old mark in the 800m.
van Wyk ran a 24.59 in her event to finish 10th overall, knocking off Rachel Oakes' previous mark of 24.66 from 2004. Saul bested All-American Lotte Black's record of 2:07.05 (2019) to finish 22nd overall.Â
Highlights
- Macy Daigle cleared 5'7" to finish second in the high jump, tying her personal best.
- Nyah Santana ran a 25.00 in the Open 200m, crossing the line second.Â
- Odette van Wyk finished third in the 60m (7.68).Â
- Sydney Federico ran a personal best time of 55.49 in the 400m, finishing seventh overall. Her time makes her the fourth-fastest individual in program history.
- Federico also finished 11th in the Invite 200m, crossing the line just behind van Wyk in 24.76.Â
