KINGSTON, R.I. -- Rhode Island was 20th out of 40 teams at the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University. The Rams had one of their best performances on the 8k course and Rhody's top finisher was Garrett Hartline, who finished 36th in 23:56.2.Â

Following Hartline, Nick Martin placed 43rd with a time of 23:58.9.

Matt Lucas (24:49.4) set a new personal best, passing more than 50 runners after the first mile split.

Jason Padula (25:13.4) and Jeremy Roe (25:14.1) ran steady races, each setting new personal bests to close out the scoring for the Rams.

Freshman Ryan Kaiser also notched a personal best, finishing in 25:19.6 as Rhody's sixth finisher.

Brayton Gazerro (26:20) opened his race strong but faded late, serving as URI's final finisher of the day.
