Rams Place 10th Out of 39 at Paul Short

Final Results

BETHLEHEM, Pa.
- Senior Lily Saul finished 10th out of 342 runners to lead Rhode Island to a 10th place finish at the Paul Short Run Presented by ASICS Friday afternoon.

Held on Lehigh University's Goodman campus course, the 6000-meter race featured competitors from more than 40 schools. The Rams were one of four Atlantic 10 schools in the field, along with George Washington, Saint Joseph's and Duquesne.

Saul finished the course in a time of 21:15.0, edging Siena Brunetti of Holy Cross by .2 seconds to earn the top-10 finish. Saul was the second-fastest finisher from the A-10. George Washington's Hedley Mahoney placed fifth in a time of 21:09.2, helping the Revolutionaries win the team title.

George Washington topped the team standings with 99 points, followed by Iona (154), Binghamton (177), Buffalo (210) and Syracuse (215) in the top five. Rhode Island had 334 points to claim 10th place, one spot ahead of fellow A-10 school Saint Joeph's (347).

Saul was in 14th place at the two-mile mark. She moved up four spots over the final 1.7 miles.

Also scoring for the Rams were freshman Keaney Bayha (73rd place, 70 points); sophomore Alison Pankowicz (79th place/76 points); junior Hailey LaRosa (81st place/78 points) and graduate student Sofia Piccone (105th place/100 points).

Bayha had a strong kick late, moving up 20 spots in the individual standings over the final 1.7 miles. Pankowicz (up 19 spots) and LaRosa (up 20 spots) offered late pushes for Rhode Island as well.

Also completing the course were freshman Jordan Hadfield (108th place);
sophomore Gwen McLoughan (141st place); senior Zoe Catrambone (155th place); and sophomore Kelsey Wolff (208th place).

Rhode Island competes next at the New England Championship in Hopkinton, N.H. on Friday, Oct. 10.
