- Last year's match up included two nationally ranked teams. Rhode Island was ranked No. 16/17 and New Hampshire was ranked No. 19/24 in the FCS national polls.
- It was a full team-effort for Rhode Island last season at Wildcat Stadium, leading to the Rams first win at New Hampshire since 1995.
- Rhody struck first in the second quarter on special teams. Linebacker Moses Meus blocked a punt that was recovered by UNH in its own end zone giving Rhody a 2-0 lead. After a Nick Mazzie 45-yard field goal late in the first half for UNH, the Wildcats carried a 3-2 lead into halftime.
- From there, the second half belonged to the Rams. Rhody outscored the Wildcats 24-6 in the second half, including a 17-0 shutout in the third quarter.
- Rhode Island defensive back Fredrick Mallay intercepted UNH quarterback Seth Morgan on the first drive of the second half, leading to a Ty Groff 20-yard field goal for the Rams.
- The first touchdown of the game didn't come until 6:33 left in the third quarter. A muffed UNH punt at its own 10-yard line, was recovered in the end zone by Rhody's Freddie Camp giving Rhody a 12-3 advantage.Â
- Two more offensive touchdowns for Rhode Island would ice the game. Quarterback Devin Farrell found wide out Marquis Buchanan for a 57-yard touchdown, and Tommy Smith added a 3-yard touchdown run leading to a 26-9 Rhode Island win.
