WEEKEND NOTES
KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island has five games on tap this weekend at the Catamount Classic in Cullowhee, N.C. Hosted by Western Carolina, the event also includes Presbyterian College and North Carolina A&T.
Rhody will open against Presbyterian on Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. Later that day, the Rams will take on the host Catamounts in a
game that will be streamed on ESPN+.
Saturday's action will see Rhody play N.C. A&T (12:30 p.m.) and Western Carolina (5:30 p.m.) before URI plays a single game against Presbyterian Sunday morning.

RHODE ISLAND VS. PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Presbyterian College will be meeting for the first time.
- The teams were scheduled to play two games earlier this season at the Pinnacle PC Tournament, but URI had to cancel due to weather-related travel issues.
- Presbyterian enters the weekend with a 7-5 record.
- URI will be Presbyterian's second Atlantic 10 opponent this year.
- The Blue Hose fell to George Washington 4-2 on Feb. 8.
RHODE ISLAND VS. WESTERN CAROLINA - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Western Carolina will be playing for the first time since 2012.
- They have split two previous meetings, both of which were played at neutral sites.
- The first contest was a 5-2 victory for URI in 2010 at the Buzz Classic in Woodstock, Ga.
- Amanda Sbei pitched a complete game with five strikeouts in the win.
- Western Carolina won the last meeting, beating URI 5-0 at the 2012 Buzz Classic.
- The Catamounts enter the weekend 2-9.
RHODE ISLAND VS. NORTH CAROLINA A&T - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island North Carolina A&T are 1-1 against each other.
- Both previous meetings happened at the 2020 First Pitch Classic in Charlotte, N.C.
- URI won the first meeting 7-2 behind a three-run home run by Rachel Zingerman.
- Sarah Gunderson pitched 5.0 shutout innings for the victory in that game.
- North Carolina A&T won the second contest a day later, 6-3.
- North Carolina A&T enters the weekend 2-9.
MILLER'S CROSSING... THE PLATE
- Junior Casey Miller has scored in three of Rhode Island's five games thus far.
- She has accounted for six of the 20 runs for the team this season.
- Miller was 3-for-5 with three runs in the team's 12-4 win over College of Charleston on Feb. 21.
- The next day, she scored once against Dartmouth in a 9-5 loss to Dartmouth and then two more times against College of Charleston in a 5-3 loss.
- Miller has a .353 on-base percentage.
HANEWICH OFF TO A HOT START
- Junior Mandi Hanewich has a team-high five hits through the first five game of the year.
- At the Lowcountry Classic last weekend, she was 5-for-13 with two runs scored and one run batted in.
- She started four of the five games she played in.
- Hanewich has been on the bases in all five games of the year.
- Primarily a pinch runner in her first two seasons, Hanewich had one career hit entering the season.
HIBBARD DELIVERING IN THE CIRCLE
- Junior Ashley Hibbard has been outstanding in the circle through her first two appearances.
- She is 1-1 with a 1.40 earned-run average through two starts.
- Over the course of 10.0 innings of work, she has allowed just two earned runs on nine hits and four walks.
- Hibbard has eight strikeouts, giving her a 2:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio thus far.
