SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Rhode Island men's track and field competed in the first outdoor meet as a full squad Friday at the Bryant Black & Gold Invitational.

Highlights from Competition

• Alexander Baez won the hammer with a throw of 58.23 meters. Nathe Field was eighth (54.08m) and Sam Meleshenko finished 13th (49.39m).
• In the discus, Meleshenko was Rhody's top finisher at sixth with a mark of 44.83 meters. Gabe Rodrigues finished seventh (44.60m) and Alex Fitzsimmons was eighth (43.94m).
• Nathan Masi placed third in the 1000 meters in 31:52.72.
