KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's track & field team continued its outdoor slate by sending representatives to both the Raleigh Relays and the Black & Gold Invite over the weekend.
Sydney Federico and
Lily Saul represented the Rams down south at the meet hosted by NC State, while the rest of the team was in action at Bryant's competition.
As a team, URI finished sixth out of 16 teams at the Black & Gold Invite with 45 points. The host Bulldogs won the meet with 148.5 points.
Highlights
- Sofia Piccone had Rhody's top finish across the two meets, coming in second overall in the 5000m at the Black & Gold Invite (17:33.0). Linsey Arends was seventh with a time of 17:43.40 while Sophia DiMuccio was just outside the top 10 in 18:09.08 (11th).
- Alyssa Yankee placed third in the discus with a 43.31m toss at the Black & Gold Invite. Mae Gall was fifth (41.13m).
- Yankee was also third in the shotput at 12.46m at the Black & Gold Invite. Rachel Federico came seventh with a 10.85m toss.
- Charlotte Moscovici and Olivia Priest tied for fourth in the pole vault at the Black & Gold Invite, clearing 3.41m. Allison Vigue cleared 3.41m in more attempts, finishing ninth.
- Kelsey Wolff (fifth, 2:16.09) and Erin Hurley (10th, 2:21.40) finished in the top 10 of the 800m at the Black & Gold Invite.
- Saul placed seventh in the 800m at the Raleigh Relays, crossing the finish line in a personal best time of 2:05.73.
- Sydney Haik ran a 1:00.98 in the 400m at the Black & Gold Invite, placing seventh overall. Laurel Filiberto was just behind her in 10th place (1:01.64).
- Norah Kobaly recorded a mark of 35.77m in the javelin throw at the Black & Gold Invite, coming in eighth place.
- Madison Boucher was ninth in the hammer at the Black & Gold Invite with a 44.01m toss.
- Sydney Federico finished 19th in the 400m at the Raleigh Relays with a personal best time of 55.44.
- Saul was 49th in the Raleigh Relays' 1500m with a personal best time of 4:22.82.
- Federico ran a personal best 24.82 in the 200m at the Raleigh Relays, good for 62nd overall.
