As I look ahead to our Senior Day tomorrow, I feel grateful to be able to play the game I love while also getting a college education. For as long as I've been in the game, I've been able to meet so many different people, visit so many places and experience so many different things.
Through all the ups and downs, I am glad that God brought me here to see it through.
In terms of travel experiences, one that stands out is while I was at La. Tech. We went to Puerto Rico, and that was my first time. It was really the first time I had been somewhere unlike any other place I've been before. It was exciting to go there with my teammates and have fun while playing a few games. That was probably my best trip in college.
Basketball has helped me find my true self. I have learned things about myself that I didn't know, and it has helped me find my purpose in life. I'm not just a basketball player. It has helped me learn there are other ways to deal with things that I've had to go through in life. It means a lot. It's something I want to be a part of for the rest of my life.
Basketball obviously means a lot to me, but it also has helped me find different things that have made me a better person.
Through basketball, I found God. I found a higher power. I always knew the story of Jesus, but I didn't really go into depth with it until I met hard times through basketball. It made me better. It taught me how to look at myself in the mirror. Finding Him through basketball was the biggest highlight of my life. It's going to help me for the rest of my life, not just on the court. It has given me an identity outside of basketball.
I'm already involved in my church back home. My teammates from high school work in the church, so that is something I am close with when I am back home.
It is something I want to continue to keep growing. It is something I feel is important, not just for me, but for everybody.
