PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rhode Island's
Lily Saul finished seventh out of 60 entrants in the one-mile run at the Friar Invitational Friday evening.
Saul was one of four runners to cross the finish line in a span of 0.79 seconds. Her time of 4:50.74 was just behind Brown's Emily Mrakovic (4:50.19) and Mary-Kate Finn of UMass Lowell (4:50.38), who competed unattached. Saul was just ahead of Providence's Kiera Hall (4:50.98).
PC had a trio of runners take the top three spots. Shannon Flockhart won the race in a time of 4:34.96. She was followed across the line by Alex Millard (4:36.12) and Annie Man (4:46.56).
In addition to Saul, URI had
Kelsey Wolff (28th, 5:10.99),
Erin Hurley (41st, 5:22.32), Hailey LaRose (44th, 5:24.44), Sophia DeMuccio (46th, 5:26.74) and
Gwen McCloughan (48th, 5:35.09), in the field.
The Rams also got a strong showing from Sophia Piccone in the 3,000. She placed sixth out of 25 finishers with a time of 10:12.94. Fellow Ram
Linsey Arends took 11th in the event with a time of 10:22.66.
Highlights
- Madeline Till competed in the invitational 800, running a time of 2:16.54 to place 15th.
- Rhody had four entrants in the open 800, which had a field of 46 runners. Lindsay Turgeon was 11th in the open with a time of 2:18.64, one spot ahead of teammate Carollin Mellin (2:19.13).
- Lilly Pittakas (2:21.25) and Zoe Catrambone (2:21.40) placed 24th and 25th, respectively.

Rhode Island will have competitors at two different events next week. The UConn Northeast Challenge will be held April 18-19 and the Holy Cross Invitational on April 19.
