KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island will make its eighth overall appearance at the NCAA Women's Rowing Championship, co-hosted by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the Ivy League, beginning Friday morning on Lake Mercer.

This marks the fourth time that the championship will be held in West Windsor, N.J. For the Rams, it is their second time competing at the regatta in as many seasons, having represented URI at the 2024 NCAA Women's Rowing Championships in Bethel, Ohio. 

Each of Rhody's three boats will compete in Heat 4 of their respective flights on Friday. The Varsity 8+ will race at 10:24 a.m., following by the Second Varsity 8+ at 11:12 a.m. and the Varsity 4+ at 12 p.m. All three crews are scheduled to race in Lane 6 and were seeded 21st out of 22 competing boats.

The national championship consists of three days of racing. The top three boats from each of Friday's heats will secure spots in the A/B Semifinals on Saturday, May 31 while the rest of the teams move on to the C/D Semifinals.

Finals for each flight will be held on Sunday, June 1. Each boat class has four sets of finals: D Final (places 19-22), C Final (places 13-18), B Final (places 7-12) and Grand Final (places 1-6).

A year ago, Rhode Island had its best-ever finish at the NCAA Championship by securing 20th place. The Rams collected 17 points to finish ahead of both SMU and Jacksonville. URI placed 21st at each of its previous six championship appearances.
