Rhode Island Wraps First Day at Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's track & field team finished the first day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship in sixth place. 

Rhody scored points in four different field events while securing finals spots in the 800m and the 400m. 

Highlights
  • Megan Wood just missed the podium in the hammer, finishing fourth with a 174' 2" toss. 
  • Alyssa Yankee was just behind her in fifth place (170' 10") with a personal best effort. 
  • Katelyn Welsh cleared a season-best 12' 3/4" in the pole vault for a sixth-place finish.
  • Lily Saul had the fastest time in the 800m prelims at 2:08.81. She was about three seconds ahead of the second-place runner in her heat. 
  • Sydney Federico ran a 55.84 to grab the eighth and final spot in Sunday's 400m Final. She was second in her heat. 
  • Norah Kobaly was eighth in the javelin throw (127' 5").
