KINGSTON, R.I. -- Rhode Island dropped one spot in one national FCS Top 25 poll, and rose in another after its week four victory over Long Island. The Rams landed at No. 7 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and No. 6 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25. Both polls were released Monday morning.
The Rams (4-0) dropped to No. 7 in the AFCA. Rhode Island was tied with Montana State at sixth last week. Montana State now holds sole possession of the No. 6 spot in the poll with 525 points. The Rams trail the Bobcats with 492 points.
In the Stats Perform Poll, Rhode Island earned 1,025 points, good enough for No. 6 in the poll, one spot better than last week's No. 7 ranking.
The top five spots in the Stats poll remain unchanged from week three. North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Tarleton State, Montana State, and Montana all handle the top five.
The Rams are one of six teams nationally with four or more wins through four weeks. Presbyterian (Pioneer), Western Georgia (Atlantic Sun), Lehigh (Patriot League), and UTRGV (Southland) all have four wins. Tarleton State (Atlantic Sun) leads all FCS programs with five wins.
Rhode Island heads to Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 27 for a match up against FBS opponent Western Michigan. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. EST.
