RHODE ISLAND VS. HOLY CROSS - SERIES NOTES

  • Tuesday will be the 18th meeting between Rhode Island and Holy Cross in a series that dates back to 1965.
  • Rhode Island leads the all-time series 15-2, including four straight wins.
  • The teams last met in 2023, a 1-0 victory for URI played in Kingston.
  • The only current Rams who played in that match were defenders Brett Scwab and Nate Yurkovic, as well as forward Mathias Taylor.
  • Rhode Island is visiting Holy Cross for the first time since 2019, when it recorded a 3-1 win.
  • The last win for Holy Cross in the series came in a 2-1 victory in 2012. That match was played in Worcester.
  • The teams have had one common opponent this season. Rhode Island fell to Brown 1-0 on Sept. 16 while Holy Cross dropped a 2-1 decision on Aug. 29.

A LOOK AT THE OPPONENT 

  • Holy Cross is unbeaten over its last four matches, going 2-0-2 since Sept. 9.
  • Last time out, the Crusaders played a scoreless draw with Lafayette.
  • Holy Cross has scored eight goals and allowed eight goals in its eight matches.
  • The offense is led by Thomas Mancuso, who has three goals, and Archie Hatcher, who has two goals and one assist.
  • Kevin Cull leads the team with three assists and has one goal.
  • Keeper Mateo Buyu has played all 720 possible minutes in net, recording 24 saves while posting a 1.0 goals-against average.

DEFENSE PROVIDING SUPPORT ON OFFENSE   

  • Rhode Island's defense has factored on each of the team's last two goals.
  • Last time out against Loyola Chicago, defender Tim Huhnholz scored the first goal of his career when he was able to get his head on a free kick service by freshman defender Sebastian Berntsen. 
  • It was the second assist in three matches for Berntsen.
  • In URI's 1-1 tie against Fordham on Sept. 13, he assisted on a Theo Harris tally.
  • Berntsen leads URI with his two assists.
