RHODE ISLAND vs. STONY BROOK - SERIES NOTES
  • Saturday's game will be the 11th in the history between the Rams and the Seawolves.
  • Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 7-3. However, Rhode Island has won the last three meetings.
  • Each of the last two meetings have been 35-14 wins for Rhode Island.
  • The teams did not play each other last season.
  • Rhode Island is 1-3 when playing at Lavalle Stadium.
  • Stony Brook head coach Billy Cosh is in his second season at the helm. He led the team to an 8-4 mark last season and earned several honors, including AFCA FCS Coach of the Year, AFCA Regional Coach of the Year, CAA Football Coach of the Year and Walter Camp FCS Coach of the Year.

FLEMING LOOKING FOR 50th WIN AT RHODE ISLAND

  • Rhode Island head coach Jim Fleming ranks third in program history with 49 victories with Rhode Island, trailing only Bob Griffin (79 wins, 1976-92) and Frank Keaney (70 wins, 1920-40).
  • Now in his 12th season, Fleming has led the Rams to five straight winning seasons for the first time in program history.
  • Since the 2020-21 COVID Spring season, Fleming has led Rhode Island to a 34-17 record.

  • Redshirt junior Devin Farrell made his 10th career start in the opener against Campbell, throwing for 275 yards and two touchdowns without a turnover.
  • Farrell is 8-2 as a starter and 9-2 overall.
  • His only losses coming last season at FBS Minnesota and a 24-21 loss at Delaware. Delaware was making the transition to the FBS level.
  • Farrell suffered a season-ending injury in the first quarter of the Delaware game.
  • Farrell did not start at Hampton last season, but he came off the bench to rally the team to a 46-44 double-overtime win.
  •  For his career, Farrell is 141-of-245 (57.6 percent) for 2,004 yards, 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
  • He also has rushed for 358 yards and five touchdowns.
