RHODE ISLAND VS. UALBANY - SERIES NOTES

  • Rhode Island and UAlbany are playing for the second straight season, and the ninth time overall.
  • The Great Danes hold a slight 4-3-1 edge in the series, including a 3-0 edge when playing as the home team.
  • Friday will mark the fourth meeting between the schools in the last five seasons. The only year during the stretch the schools did not play was 2023.
  • The home team has won each of the last four meetings.
  • Last season, Rhode Island recorded a 2-1 victory at home.
  • Ivan Montoro scored the game-winner for URI in the 81st minute.

  • UAlbany is coming to Kingston off a 2-1 loss at LIU on Sunday evening. 
  • The Great Danes have scored one goal in each of their three matches thus far.
  • Alexander Clive has one goal and one assist to lead UAlbany with three points,
  • William Bruce and Rodrigo Hermelo each have one goal as well. 
  • Head coach Trevor Gorman is in his 15th season with UAlbany and has a career record of 105-121-33.
  • Midfielder Jordan Shullenberger was a member of the 2024 America East All-Rookie Team.

GOBA COMES THROUGH AGAIN

  • Junior forward Daniel Goba has scored twice in his first three matches with Rhode Island.
  • In Monday's 3-1 loss to Providence, he scored on a header during a set piece.
  • A high, arching pass was sent into the box by Tiago Barriguinha, and Goba got above the defense and knocked the ball across the end line. 
  • Goba also scored URI's first goal of the season in the opener against Iona.
  • He is making the jump to Division I after two strong seasons with Division III Salve Regina.
  • Goba, a North Kingstown, R.I. native, scored 19 goals in 37 career matches for the Seahawks.
