Rhody Visits Stony Brook for First Time Saturday

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island closes out the full-team portion of the regular season when it travels to Stony Brook for a 1 p.m. meet Saturday. It will be the first time the Rams and Seawolves compete against each other in swimming and diving.

Saturday's meet will be streamed on FloCollege.  

Team Notes
  • Rhode Island and Stony Brook have had three common head-to-head opponents this season: Siena, CCSU and Northeastern.
  • Rhody defeated Siena (203-94) and CCSU (163-137), while dropping a tight meet to Northeastern (156-143).
  • Stony Brook beat Siena (223-76), but fell to CCSU (173-123) and Northeastern (178-98).
  • This is the final tune up for most of the squad before the Atlantic 10 Championship, which is being held in Hampton, Va. from Feb. 18-21.
  • With one meet remaining before the conference championship, here is a look at URI's top individual rankings in various events.
  • Rhode Island's Olivia Winslow is ranked second in the Atlantic 10 in the 1-meter dive, while teammate Emily Whiteneck is fourth in the event, according to DiveMeets.
  • Winslow is also ranked second in the conference in the 3-meter dive, while Whiteneck is sixth.
  • Rylee Kelly is fourth in the A-10 in the 500 freestyle
  • Molly Beckwith and Kelly are fifth and sixth in the conference, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle, according to usaswimming.org.
  • Beckwith also is 12th in the 100 butterfly.
  • Julianna Tyler ranks seventh in the 400 individual medley and eighth in the 200 butterfly.
  • Logan Norrid is 10th in the 200 breaststroke and 14th in the 100 breaststroke.
  • Lily Gugino ranks 13th in the 400 individual medley.
  • The Rams have a trio of swimmers in the top 15 of the 100 individual medley. Emma Raser (11), Maddy Deeney (12) and Sarah Koenig (14) all are within less than one second of each other in the event.
  • While Saturday is Rhode Island's final regular-season meet for the full team, there will be a contingent of Rams competing next weekend at the BU Winter Open.
  • The five Rams who will compete next week at the BU Winter Open are Ella Arbeiter, Lauren Biglow, Cate Carboni, Meghan Pauley and Chloe Robinson.
