Day 2 Results
DAVIDSON, N.C. -
Iben Mol will play for the women's singles title at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Masters.
The first-year player continued her impressive debut for Rhode Island, beating Duquesne's Dasha Chichkina on Saturday. Mol won 6-4, 6-1 for the straight-set victory.
It was the third win of the weekend for Mol, and her second straight against an opponent with all-conference credentials. Chichkina, a transfer from Saint Francis (Pa.), was an All-NEC First Team selection in both singles and doubles there last season. She also was the NEC Rookie of the Year two years ago.
Mol will battle Richmond's Sofia Maria Barbulescu at 10 a.m. Sunday. The winner will earn an automatic spot in the NCAA qualifier for the NCAA Fall Individual Tennis Championship.
In the doubles draw, Mol and Gracy Darcy were defeated by VCU's team of Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando and Andrea Magallanes, 8-4. Andrade Sabando and Magallanes moved on to Sunday's championship match, where they will face Fordham's Paola Ueno Dalmonico and Julianne Nguyen for the doubles titles on Sunday.
Ellen Katzer picked up a victory in the consolation bracket. She won a competitive first set against VCU's Sofia Jane Thorne 7-6 (3). Thorne then retired with an injury, giving Katzer the win.
Mol's title match against Barbulescu will be Rhode Island's lone match on the final day of the tournament.
