NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Rhode Island has two of the final 32 doubles teams remaining in the 2026 ITA Division I New England Regionals Friday. It was part of an exceptional day for the program, as
Iben Mol also advanced to the Round of 32 in the singles draw.
Rhody's veteran team of
Grace Darcy and
Anastasia Pettersson earned their way into the Round of 32 in the doubles draw by beating Flora Eidson and Adelaide Games from Providence, 8-6. With the victory, both Darcy and Pettersson are now in URI's top 20 for career doubles wins. Darcy is tied for 18th place with 33 victories, while Pettersson is tied for 20th with 32 wins. The duo has won 32 matches together.
Also advancing in doubles play was Rhody's team of Mol and second-year player
Kajsa Helgesen. They teamed up to beat Sacred Heart's Olivia Zuba and Irla Bartyzel, 8-3.
Both teams will find out their matchups for Saturday later tonight. Â
Mol continued the impressive start to her career with a straight set win over Fairfield's Regina Herrara. She won the match 6-4, 6-2 and will face Jacqueline Soloveychik of Boston College Saturday morning for a spot in the Sweet 16. That match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
First-year player
Ellen Katzer - who won two rounds in the qualifying bracket on Thursday, was eliminated in the first round of the main draw. She fell to Cornell's Victoria Zhao, 6-1, 6-2.
There will be two rounds of singles play on Saturday, and one round of doubles action.
