KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island's Olivia Kuhnel was named the Atlantic 10 Softball Rookie of the Week, the conference has announced.

The Aliso Viejo, Calif. native made her collegiate debut over the weekend, making two scoreless relief appearances against St. Bonaventure. She picked up her first career win with 2.2 scoreless innings of work in an 8-7, 8-inning win on Sunday. Kuhnel had three strikeouts with no walks in the outing, helping URI rally from a 7-4 deficit for its first league win of the season. The day before, she made her first career outing, overcoming three walks to pitch 1.1 innings of shutout relief.

For the week, she was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 4.0 innings with four strikeouts. 

Kuhnel and the Rams travel to Stephenville, Texas to play a pair of doubleheaders at Tarleton State this weekend. The teams will play two games each on Friday and Saturday, with all four games scheduled to stream on ESPN+.
