MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's blanked Rhode Island 4-0 Tuesday afternoon, winning three singles matches in straight sets to clinch the match.
After winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, the host Gaels (4-8) got singles wins from Tiana Fox, Elif Gunal and Madison Weekley to clinch the win.
Rhode Island (7-5) was leading at No. 5 and No. 6 singles when play was halted.
Kajsa Helgesen was ahead of Sydney Wilson 6-2, 3-3 at No. 5 singles.
Miruna Scarlat was leading 7-5, 2-3 against Sophie Stanton at No. 6 singles.
Rhode Island will look to get back on track Wednesday at San Jose State. The match begins at 3 p.m. EST.
