RHODE ISLAND VS. GEORGE MASON - SERIES NOTES

• Rhode Island is 9-17 all time against George Mason. 
• The first meeting between the Rams and Patriots was in 1977 and the most recent meeting is in last season's Atlantic 10 Championship game on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
• In 2025, the teams met in a regular season series from April 25 to April 27 with the Patriots taking 2-of-3 from the Rams in Farfaix, Va.
• George Mason won the first two games of the series 5-4 and 10-1. Rhode Island won the third game of the series 15-9 to salvage the series. 
• Rhode Island won the 2025 Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship after going 22-8 against A-10 competition. George Mason finished one spot behind the Rams at 20-10 after the regular season.
• The Rams won the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship 4-1. A three-run second inning helped paced thew Rams over the Patriots.
• Three current Rams saw time on the hill for Rhode Island in the game. Jake Cullen made the start for Rhode Island. Parker Aikens was the first reliever out of the bullpen for Rhode Island. He threw 3.1 innings and allowed just two hits.
• Joe Sabbath closed the game for Rhode Island and earned a single season program-record eighth save of the season.

• Shortstop Reece Moroney has started all 18 of Rhode Island's games at shortstop.
• Over the course of his career, Moroney has played in 121 of 125 games and has made 120 starts.
• The junior is leading the Rams in four offensive statistical categories. Moroney is first in average (.394), hits (28), RBIs (14), and at bats (71). 
• Moroney's .394 batting average and 28 hits are both sixth-best in the Atlantic 10. 
• If the season ended today, Moroney's .394 batting average would be the seventh-best in a single season in program history. 
• Moroney is in his third season with Rhode Island and has enjoyed success in each of his first two seasons. 
• In 2024 as a freshman, Moroney batted .256 while starting 44 of 45 games he appeared in. Moroney was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team. 
• Last season, after starting every game for Rhode Island and hitting .356, Moroney was a Second Team All-Atlantic 10 selection.
• Moroney is a .327 career hitter with 148 hits and 80 RBIs.
