KINGSTON, R.I. -- Rhode Island women's lacrosse freshman Celie Shield was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday. It's the first career weekly honor for the Richmond, Va. native.

Shield scored three goals to help lead the Rams to win over Duquesne this past Saturday. She recorded an assist for four points in the 15-8 victory— a season-high for the rookie.  Shield also added three ground balls and one draw control. 

The Rams are back in action on Saturday when they host Davidson at the URI Soccer Complex at 12:00 p.m.
