KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island Baseball's Jack Hopko has signed a free agent contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, Hopko confirmed on Wednesday evening.

He is the second Ram to either sign or be drafted by an MLB organization this year, as teammate Reece Moroney was drafted by the Phillies in the 10th round of the MLB Draft on Sunday, July 12. 

The Endwell, N.Y. native's career accolades include First Team All-Atlantic 10 nods in 2025 & 2026 and the program's single-season RBI record with 83 in 2025. Hopko started 56 of Rhode Island's 57 games in 2026 while batting .306 with 19 home runs and 63 RBI. Hopko's 19 homers was second most in a single-season in program history. He finished his career with 178 RBI, just three shy of Anthony DePino's program-leading 181.

Hopko is the fourth Ram to sign as a free agent since the 2020 season, joining former teammate Eric Genther (Yankees, 2025), Addison Kopack (San Diego Padres, 2023) and Jackson Coutts (Washington Nationals, 2020). Under head coach Raphael Cerrato, 13 different players have now earned professional opportunities within the MLB.
