RHODE ISLAND AT STONY BROOK SERIES NOTES

• Rhode Island heads to Stony Brook for its third road trip in four games to start 2026.
• The Rams and Seawolves have met seven 11 times. The Seawolves own a 7-4 advantage in the series history. 
• The Seawolves are 3-2 when hosting the Rams at LaValle Stadium.
• The first meeting between the two programs was on Sept. 7, 2013. The Seawolves won that match up 24-0 at Meade Stadium in Kingston, R.I.
• Despite losing its first seven meetings against Stony Brook, Rhode Island has won the last four contests. 
• The Rams four-game winning streak against the Seawolves dates back to Oct. 2, 2021. 
• Rhode Island took the 2021 meeting 27-20 in Kingston. 
• On fourth-and-one from the URI two-yard line, Jarrett Martin and James Makszin combined to stuff Stony Brook running back Ty Son Lawton at the line of scrimmage, securing the Rhody win.
• The most recent meeting between the two teams was last season on Sept. 6, 2025 on Long Island. 
• Rhode Island defeated Stony Brook 31-17 in that meeting. 
• Stony Brook took an early 10-0 lead on Rhode Island last season. The Rams erased the deficit with a 24-point second quarter. 
• Marquis Buchanan's 12-yard touchdown pass from Devin Farrell started the Rams second-quarter scoring. Then Leisaan Hibbert returned an interception 30-yard for a touchdown to give the Rams the lead. 
• Running back Antwain Littleton, Jr. rushed for touchdowns in the second and fourth quarters to help ice the game for the Rams. 

RHODY STRONG OF LATE AGAINST CAA OPPONENTS

• After beating Elon 31-10 on Sept. 12, Rhode Island notched its first CAA Football win of the season. 
• The Rams have won each of their last seven conference openers. 
• Rhode Island 17-1 in its last 18 games against CAA Football competition. 
• That includes a perfect 8-0 record in league play last season. 
• In 2024, Rhody was 7-1 in league play, with the lone loss coming against Delaware, which was transitioning to the FBS. 
• Rhode Island has recorded five or more conference wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
• Dating back to the spring 2021 season, Rhode Island is 29-13 over its last 42 CAA contests. 
• During that stretch, Rhody has been .500 or better in every complete season.
• From 2014 to 2019, Rhode Island was 9-39 in its first 48 CAA games with Jim Fleming as its head coach. 
• Rhode Island's best finish in CAA play from 2014 to 2019 was 4-4 in 2018.

• Through the first three games of the season, the Rhode Island defense has forced 10 turnovers. 
• That is tied with Nicholls (Southland) of the third-most in the FCS. 
• Northern Arizona (Big Sky) and William & Mary (Patriot) are tied with a FCS-high 11 turnovers. 
• Rhode Island is one of six teams nationally with a turnover margin of +6 or better. 
• With two interceptions returned for touchdowns this season, Rhode Island is one of seven teams nationally with two defensive touchdowns. 
• Linebacker Moses Meus secured a 49-yard interception for a score in Rhode Island's win over Merrimack on Aug. 28. 
• Linebacker Mitchell Garner had a 30-yard pick-six in Rhode Island's win over Elon on Sept. 12. 
• Rhode Island is one of five teams nationally with six interceptions this season.
• The Rams had four interceptions against Elon. 
• Safety Andre DePina-Gray and Meus each recorded their second interceptions of the season against the Phoenix.
• Dartmouth transfer Tyson Grimm and Garner each had their first interceptions of the season in the game.
• It was Rhode Island first game with four of more interceptions since the Rams picked off four passes against Central Connecticut State on Sept. 28, 2013.
• Rhode Island also has a CAA Football-best four fumble recoveries this season.
• The Rams are one of 13 teams nationally with four or more fumble recoveries.
