RHODE ISLAND VS. DUQUESNE - MATCHUP NOTES

• This is the 28th meeting all time between Rhode Island and Duquesne.
• Rhode Island has the edge in the series 17-10-0 against the Dukes.
• Rhody won last season's match 6-1, the second most goals scored by a team in the series. On November 11, 1999, Rhode Island routed Duquesne 7-0 for the most goals in the series.
• Tiago Barriguinha (2), Sinan Bruning, Mathias Taylor (2), and Kyler Vojvodic all scored for the Rams in the win.
• Prior to last season, the Dukes had won three straight games against the Rams.
• Rhody's last win in an A10 opener came on Sept. 18, 2021 when the Rams beat VCU 2-1 in overtime.

 
GOGLIA BUILDING OFF STRONG FIRST YEAR

• Sophomore Everson Goglia made his presence felt as a true freshman last season, scoring two goals and recording two assists in 15 matches.
• Through seven games this season, Goglia has already matched his season goal total from last year with two.
• Rhode Island was 3-0 last year when Goglia recorded at least one point in a match.
• He scored in a 2-0 victory at St. Bonaventure, had one assist in a 6-1 win over Duquesne and had one goal and one assist in a 4-0 shutout of Central Connecticut State.
• A Bristol, R.I. native, Goglia has an older sister,  Michaela, who played for the Stony Brook women's team from 2017-20.

 
SCOUTING THE DUKES

• In 2025, Duquesne finished with a 8-6-2  record overall and a 2-6 record in A10 play, missing out on the postseason tournament.
• Duquesne was picked to finish tenth in the 2026 A10 Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll. The top eight teams make the conference tournament.
• The Dukes have defeated Bowling Green, Mount St. Mary's, and most recently Detroit Mercy 2-1. Duquesne has tied Lafayette and Robert Morris.
• Duquesne has not played since Sept. 5, after playing five games in 17 days to start the season.
• The Dukes' leading scorer is Marko Rasmussen who has three goals for six points in five games played.
