Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. - Freshman Lukasz Tumicz (Bisztynek, Poland) scored a goal and had an assist and senior Sasha Gotsmanov (Woodbury, Minn.) scored his 50th career point as the University of Rhode Island men's soccer team defeated Northeastern 2-0 on Saturday night at Parsons Field.

The Rams improved to 3-1 on the season, winning their third-straight game since a 2-1 overtime loss in the season opener. Northeastern dropped to 0-3 on the season.

Tumicz scored a goal off an assist from sophomore Jeffrey Gonsalves (Markham, Ontario) to give the Rams a 1-0 lead. Tumicz also picked up the assist on on an insurance goal by senior Sasha Gotsmanov (Woodbury, Minn.).

Gotsmanov's goal was his third of the season and made him the 23rd player in URI history to score 50 career points. He is in a tie for 21st on the school's all-time scoring list, just one point behind former teammate Perek Belleh, who was a senior last fall and is currently playing with the New England Revolution of the MLS.

Junior goalkeeper Dean Ruddy made three saves in net for the Rams.

Rhode Island returns to action on Tuesday night when the Rams host in-state rival Providence College at 7 p.m. at the newly renovated URI Soccer Complex.
