Baseball Hosts In-State Rival Brown On Wednesday At 1:45 P.M.

KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island baseball team will host in-state rival Brown in a doubleheader on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. at Bill Beck Field. Both games of the doubleheader can be followed here at GoRhody.com on Gametracker.

The Rams are 8-12 overall and 4-2 in the Atlantic 10, sitting in a tie for first in the East Division with Fordham. Rhode Island took two of three games from Dayton on Sunday and Monday and has won five of its last seven.

The Rams are 1-0 at home this spring after an 11-4 victory over Hartford last Wednesday. Rhode Island is gearing up for its Atlantic 10 home-opening series against Richmond this weekend.

Junior Daryl Holcomb (Wilmington, Del.) leads the Rams with a .364 batting average. Sophomore Ryan Cunningham (Centreville, Va.) has a .315 batting average, leads the team with four homers and is second with 14 RBIs. Cunningham has hit safely in the last 11 games, while senior Matt Sullivan (Nashua, N.H.) had a school-record 17-game hitting streak snapped on Monday against Dayton.

Rhody sophomore Scott Brown (Portland, Maine) has a .300 batting average with a team-high 16 RBIs.

The Bears enter Wednesday's doubleheader with a 5-11 record, including a 0-2 mark in the Ivy League. Eric Larson leads the Bears with a .370 batting average, while Matt Kutler is second at .328 and Danny Hughes checks in at .322. Kutler and Hughes are tied for the team lead in RBIs with 13 apiece.
