Baseball Ties Up Series With Musketeers With 7-4 Win

Cincinnati, Ohio - Junior Scott Brown led Rhode Island (10-5, 1-1 A-10) with three hits, two RBIs and a run scored in the Rams 7-4 victory over Xavier (7-15, 1-1 A-10) on Saturday at Hayden Field in Cincinnati. The Rams found themselves down 4-0 in the bottom of the third, but the Rams fought back and put up seven unanswered to even the series at 1-1.

Rhode Island responded in the third with runs in four of the last five innings of play. The Rams plated one run in the fifth and seventh innings and exploded for three runs in the sixth and two more in the eighth. URI also held the advantage in hits on the afternoon as the Rams belted out 11 hits compared to XU's six.

Junior Ryan Cunningham went two for five with one run scored. Sophomore Zach Zaneski also had two hits for the Rams and also contributed two RBIs.

Adam Perkins picked up his second win of the season for URI. Perkins pitched six and a third innings giving up only five hits while striking out seven. Sophomore Brett Palanski picked up the save for the Rams pitching two and two thirds innings giving up only one hit while striking out three.

Rhode Island will rap up their series with Xavier on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati.
