Box Score

KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Boston University, Friday night at the URI Soccer Complex.

Senior Dawid Badecki (Jelenia Gora, Poland) had a chance to put Rhody on the board in the 13th minute, collecting his own rebound and drilling a shot that deflected off the crossbar. Petur Sigurdsson went on to score the Terrier's first goal when he headed a service ball by Jin Oh past URI sophomore Chris Pennock (Middlesboro, England) at the 30:15 mark. Two minutes later, senior Geoffrey Cameron (Attleboro, Mass.) had a chance to knot the score but his shot went just of the net.

With less than a minute remaining in the first half, BU was awarded a free kick outside of the box with 25 seconds left on the clock. Neil Hlavaty took the shot for the Terriers and found the back of the net for the 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Rhody's best chance of the second half came when senior Callum Bissett (Pencaitland, Scotland) headed the ball past BU's Hrafn Davidsson but was called for being offsides.

Despite outshooting Boston University, 13-10, and holding a 6-3 corner kick advantage, Rhode Island was unable to get on the board through the remainder of regulation.

Davidsson made five saves in the win for the Terriers while Pennock turned away two BU shots.

The Rams are back in action on Friday, Sept. 28 when they travel to Hartford for a 6:00 p.m. match against the Hawks.
