KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island redshirt junior goalkeeper Peyton Warwick (Prairie Village, Kan.) scored the game-tying goal with just 36 seconds remaining in regulation as the Rams played visiting Fairfield to a 1-1 tie on Saturday night at the URI Soccer Complex.

With the draw, Rhody moves to 2-6-1 while Fairfield goes to 1-3-5.

Fairfield took an early 1-0 lead on a goal Jon Clements just 15 minutes into the match. Warwick - who had come out of the box to try to stop a long service - blocked Clements' initial shot but was unable to smother the ball, which Clements then deposited into the back of the net.

For the half, the Stags held a 5-0 advantage in shots on goal.

Rhody came back from the break and continued to attack the Fairfield goal. The Rams had a few solid chances but were unable to get the ball past Michael O'Keeffe, who finished the night with five saves.

It wasn't until the last minute that Warwick evened things up when he came into the box and got a foot on a corner kick by senior Jonathan Pereira (Barrington, R.I.). Pereira had played the ball in with 40 seconds left in regulation, finding Warwick - who was there to put away the game-tying tally.

Rhody outshot Fairfield, 4-2, throughout the overtime periods but neither team was able to net the golden goal, ending things in a 1-1 draw.

The Rams return to action on Friday night when they open up Atlantic 10 play by hosting Dayton at 7 p.m.
