NEWTON, Mass. - The Rhode Island men's soccer
team conceded two late goals as it fell to No. 10 Boston College,
2-0, Tuesday night at BC's Newton Campus Field. Redshirt junior Peyton
Warwick recorded six saves in the loss.
Despite Rhody keeping the Eagles off the board for nearly 80
minutes, Boston College found the back of the net at the 78:55 mark
when Charlie Rugg headed a service from Colin Murphy past Warwick
for the 1-0 lead. BC doubled its lead just four minutes later on a
goal by Edvin Worley. Kyle Bekker and Patrick Chin were credited
with assists on the play.
Junior David
Malloy led the Rams with four shots - two of which were on goal
- while Rhody held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. The Eagles,
meanwhile, held an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.
With the loss, Rhode Island drops to 2-4-0 while BC improves to
4-0-2.
The Rams return to action on Friday night when they travel to
Boston University for a 7 p.m. match at Nickerson Field.
