Women's Swim & Dive Captures Invitational Win

KINGSTON, R.I. – For the fourth straight season the Rhode Island women's swimming & diving team won the Harold Anderson Invitational, in its 16th year, with a final score of 959.50. The Rams beat out Providence College (703), the University of Maine (679), Assumption College (485.50), Bryant University (362) and College of the Holy Cross (212).

For the men's side, the Rams came in last, earning a score of 465.50. Providence College won with 814.50 points, followed by the University of Maine (672), Bryant University (595) and College of the Holy Cross (544).

Day two, the final of the two-day meet, got off to an exciting start for Rhode Island as Susan Nugent and Rachel Revolinski each scribed their names into the record book.

Nugent set a new pool, varsity and meet record in her winning 200-yd. butterfly (2:03.70) as well as a varsity and meet record in the 100-yard fly with a winning 57.65 finish. Revolinski tied former Ram Lillian Falconer's varsity time and set a new meet record in her winning 100-yard breast performance (1:05.55).

In the opening event, the women's 200-yard medley relay, the Rams earned second and third, respectively, behind the winning team of Maine. Caitlin Carter, Rachel Revolinski, Sarah Keshishian and Colette Aubin took second (1:49.64) and Katie Mangano, Tamara Bystrak, Taylor Gannon and Eileen Morrison placed third (1:49.93). For the men, Rhode Island earned fourth, with Robert Deering, Willie Hooper, Evan Denard and Paul Ianiro finishing in 1:41.62.

In the women's 400-yard IM, Emily Thomesen placed fourth (4:41.94), Jessica Andruzzi earned sixth (4:44.71) and Christine Beecher took eighth (4:50.47). Kevin Ng and Tommy Beagan earned seventh and eighth, respectively, in the men's 400-yard IM. Ng finished in 4:52.10 and Beagan in 5:23.38.

Following Nugent's performance, Taylor Gannon earned third in the women's 100-yard fly (58.83) and Colette Aubin placed sixth (1:00.48). Evan Denard (54.83) earned an eighth-place finish in the men's race.

Rhody earned the top two spots in the women's 200-yard free as Sarah Keshishian won in 1:54.26 and Chaya Zabludoff placed second in 1:54.35. Willie Hooper earned seventh in the men's race, clocking in at 1:50.74.

Behind Revolinski in the women's 100-yard breaststroke, Tamara Bystrak placed eighth (1:10.02). Kevin Ng took ninth for the men (1:02.89).

Katie Mangano and Caitlin Carter each placed in the top 10 in the women's 100-yard back, with Mangano winning (58.98) and Carter placing fourth (1:00.56). For the men, Robert Deering earned third-place in 54.69.

Julie Coleman (195.60) and Sasha White (186.10) earned second and third, respectively, in the women's 3-meter dive. Cara Brown took fifth (174.75).

Chaya Zabludoff took top honors in the women's 1,000-yard free, finishing in 10:34.62. Following were Kasey Lefebvre in fourth (11:02.05) and Kelsey Lynch in fifth (11:03.90). In the men's race, Aaron Kollmeyer placed eighth (12:06.92), Toby Fontaine took ninth (12:11.16) and Ryan Quinn rounded out the top 10 with a 13:31.92 finish.

In the 200-yard back, Emily Thomesen (2:09.72) and Caitlin Carter (2:10.36) earned second and third, respectively. Jennifer Lopez placed seventh in 2:11.59. For the men, Robert Deering earned third in 2:00.00.

In the 100-yard free, Rhody earned three top-10 finishes. Katie Mangano won in 52.43, Sarah Keshishian placed second in 53.55 and Eileen Morrison took ninth in 54.98. The men's team had two top-10 finishes, with Evan Denard placing sixth (49.36) and Paul Ianiro taking ninth (50.17).

Rachel Revolinski won the 200-yard breast in 2:23.85. Jessica Andruzzi took third in 2:26.82 and Teresa Lincoln earned ninth in 2:34.65.

In the 200-yard fly, Susan Nugent won in 2:03.70 and Taylor Gannon placed third in 2:11.39. For the men, Tommy Frick took seventh (2:07.44) and Evan Denard placed 10th (2:14.05).

Rhode Island won the first two spots in the 400-yard free relay, with Sarah Keshishian, Chaya Zabludoff, Caitlin Carter and Eileen Morrison winning in 3:35.89. The team of Katie Mangano, Emily Thomesen, Colette Aubin and Susan Nugent earned second in 3:36.21. The men's team of Paul Ianiro, Robert Deering, Johnny Otterbein and Willie Hooper earned fourth in 3:23.76.
