Preliminary ResultsÂ
HAMPTON, Va. - Rhode Island's
Olivia Winslow earned the program's first medal in diving in a quarter century to highlight Day Two of the Atlantic 10 Championships Thursday.
Winslow placed third in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 271.35 to grab a spot on the podium. It is the first diving medal for URI since Ashley Good took third place in the 1-meter dive in 2001. It also is Rhode Island's first medal in any event since Nicole Petta placed second in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke races in 2019.
St. Bonaventure's Dhavgely Mendoza won the event with her score of 315.60, followed by George Washington's Olivia Paquette (296.75). Winslow earned 16 team points with her performances. Rhody also got two points from
Emily Whiteneck, who placed 15th with a score of 244.65.
Rylee Kelly provided 11 team points with an eighth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. She advanced to the finals with a strong showing in the preliminary round. Kelly posted a time of 4:55.82. She placed second in Heat 7, trailing only Ava Topolewski of George Washington. Topolewski went on to place second overall.
In the final event of the night, Rhode Island scored 14 points with a 10th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of
