Day One Results
HAMPTON, Va. - Rhode Island had its best relay finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships in 10 years and set the program record, placing sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay Wednesday afternoon.
On the first day of the league championship, URI's team of
Molly Beckwith,
Avery Potyrala,
Mary McCormick and Riley Kelly posted a time of 7:23.21. That time set a new URI record, beating the previous record of 7:25.47 set by Chaya Zabludoff, Porsche Ferrell, Lauren Folkert and Sarah Keshishia on Feb. 19, 2014. It was Rhode Island's best relay finish at the A-10 championship since 2015-16, when the 200-yard medley relay team took third place.
The result gave Rhody 26 team points. Duquesne won the event in a time of 7:16.52, just ahead of Richmond (7:17.80). Richmond also won the first relay race of the day, the 200-yard medley relay.
In the first relay of the championship, Rhode Island earned 14 points with a 10th-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Richmond won the event with a time of 1:38.7. Rhody's team of
