Rhody Gets Past Western Michigan, 6-3

PALM BEACH, Fla. - Rhode Island senior Tom Coulombe went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI as the Rams posted a 6-3 win over Western Michigan on Wednesday night. The victory improves URI to 5-2 while WMU falls to 3-7.

Senior starter Brian Bodjiak got the win on the mound for URI, allowing two runs on four hits over 5.2 innings. Bodjiak also fanned five batters, as did redshirt sophomore Rob Curran - who struck out the side in the top of the ninth to pick up his first career save.

Redshirt junior Dan Haverstick also notched a multi-hit game for the Rams, going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Redshirt junior Jeff Cammans and freshman Jeff Roy, meanwhile, extended their hit streaks to six and five games, respectively.

Rhode Island is back in action in a non-conference matchup against St. Bonaventure, Thurrsday at Noon.
