PHILADELPHIA - Kenny Burns, Jeff Cammans and Greg Annarummo each recorded four hits on the day as the Rhode Island baseball team split a Saturday afternoon doubleheader at La Salle. The Rams lost game one, 4-3, before taking game two, 7-4, in 10 innings.

All of Burns' hits came in the second game, as he went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI and two runs - including an inside the park homer. Ty Muller also paced the Rhody offense in game two, recording three hits for the Rams, who outslugged La Salle, 16-9, over 10 innings.

Dan Johnson picked up his first win of the season in Rhody's victory, closing out the game with just one hit over 1.2 scoreless innings after being charged with the loss in game one.

Game two remained scoreless through the first five innings until a two-out single by Muller pushed across Burns and gave Rhody an early advantage. However, La Salle responded with a three spot in the bottom of the inning to move in front, 3-1.

Burns went on to get the Rams to within one in the top of the seventh on his first homer of the season. Anarummo's eighth-inning RBI double then plated Cammans to tie things up at 3-3.

Rhody (12-12, 2-3) finally put the game away in the top of the tenth, scoring four runs on four hits for the 7-3 victory.

Game one had started similar to game two with the score remaining locked at zero through the first four innings of play. Rhody got on the board in the top of the fifth, thanks to a pair of runs by Pat Fortunato and Jeff Roy. La Salle responded with two of its own in the bottom of the sixth before the Rams reclaimed the lead in the eighth, on a two-out RBI single by senior Tom Coulombe.

However, the Explorers (15-11, 2-3) capitalized on URI's third error of the game in the bottom of the inning, scoring the game-winning run en route to the 4-3 victory.

Rhody and La Salle return to Hank DeVincent Field to close out the series on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
